JOB OVERVIEW:

The Staff Accountant supports the daily financial operations of one or more hotel properties, with assignments based on business needs. This role may be multi‑property and requires the ability to shift between property portfolios while maintaining consistent accuracy, timeliness, and strong internal controls. The Staff Accountant partners closely with property management, vendors, and the corporate accounting team to ensure that all AP, AR and processes are efficient, compliant, and well‑documented. The ideal candidate is highly organized, able to prioritize quickly, and delivers work that is both fast paced and thorough even when supporting multiple properties simultaneously.

WORK REQUIREMENTS:

• Manage daily AP workflows for assigned property or multiple properties, ensuring accurate coding, documentation, and controlled approval flows. 
• Perform vendor reconciliation and support timely weekly payments across multiple properties as assigned.
• Enforce three-way match controls (PO, invoice, receiving) and ensure property teams follow purchasing and receiving procedures consistently.
• Review invoices for proper tax treatment, correct vendor setup, contract compliance.
• Track recurring invoices (utilities, service contracts, waste, telecom, landscaping, etc. to ensure monthly completeness and accuracy, escalating missing or late invoices as needed.
• Monitor open PO reports and follow up with department leaders across multiple properties to close out outstanding POs and correct receiving errors.
• Ensure all AP filing digital or physical is organized, audit-ready, and consistently maintained across each assigned property.
• Support weekly check run deadlines to be completed each week on Thursday’s by 2pm. Ensuring that payment batches are accurate by verifying backup and ensuring proper signatures and internal controls are followed.
• Prepare billing and AR activity for one or more properties, ensuring accuracy and timely follow-up across all assigned portfolios.
• Monitor AR aging and collections for multi-property assignments.
• Complete month end accruals list, for assigned properties, ensuring all deadlines are met despite varying property needs.
• Monitor open PO reports and follow up with department leaders across multiple properties to close out outstanding POs and correct receiving errors.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

While performing the duties of this job it may require to:

• Prolonged sitting, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl occasionally.
• Frequently use fingers and hands for keyboard and arms to reach.
• Vision, Hearing & Speaking.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

• High school diploma.
• Three years experience in various accounting functions in a hotel operation.
