GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

The Bar & Restaurant Manager oversees the daily operations of the bar within the hotel’s signature restaurant, ensuring exceptional

guest experiences that reflect the standards of a luxury property. This role is responsible for managing the beverage program, leading

and training the bar team, maintaining inventory and cost controls, and upholding the highest levels of service, quality, and

compliance.

KEY RESPONBILITIES:

· Lead the bar team in delivering professional, attentive, and personalized service that exceeds guest expectations.

· Curate and manage the bar’s beverage offerings, including cocktails, wines, spirits, and non-alcoholic options, aligning with the hotel’s luxury standards.

· Develop innovative seasonal menus, ensuring creativity and alignment with food pairings from the restaurant.

· Oversee day-to-day operations of the bar, including staff scheduling, shift management, and service standards.

· Train, mentor, and motivate bartenders and bar staff, fostering a culture of excellence, teamwork, and continuous learning.

· Monitor beverage inventory, conduct regular stock takes, and ensure accurate ordering and cost control.

· Ensure compliance with health, safety, and licensing regulations always.

· Collaborate with the Food & Beverage leadership team to create promotions, events, and unique guest experiences.

· Handle guest feedback promptly and professionally, ensuring complete guest satisfaction.

· Maintain strong vendor relationships and negotiate to secure premium products at competitive costs.

· Track and analyze bar performance metrics, including revenue, profitability, and guest satisfaction scores.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

· Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in a preferred bar leadership role within a luxury hotel restaurant, fine dining restaurant, or high-end hospitality environment.

· Strong knowledge of spirits, cocktails, wines, and beverage trends.

· Exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to inspire and develop a high-performing team.

· Proven track record in cost control, inventory management, and financial performance.

· Outstanding guest service skills, with the ability to anticipate needs and personalize experiences.

· Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities, with keen attention to detail.

· Certification in responsible alcohol service and knowledge of local liquor laws.

· Sommelier or mixology training (preferred).

· Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Familiar with California Wage and Hour compliance and laws.

· Strong Knowledge of California Wines.

COMPLIANCE AND SAFTEY:

· Ensure compliance with health, safety, and sanitation standards.

· Maintain knowledge of local regulations and hotel policies.

· Conduct regular inspections and audits of food and beverage areas.

· Ensure compliance with Worker’s Compensation laws, investigations, and incident reporting.

EVENT COORDINATION:

· Assist in planning and executing private events, meetings, and special events.

· Coordinate with other departments to ensure seamless event delivery.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee:

· Must be able to tolerate temperature changes from hot to cold and cold to hot.

· Must be able to tolerate noise and vibration and a variety of physical conditions such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, electrical currents, working on scaffolding and high places.

· Must be able to tolerate atmospheric conditions, such as fumes, orders, dust, mists, gasses and/or poor ventilation.

· Sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl occasionally.

· Frequently use hands for keyboard and arms to reach.

· Heavy work – Occasionally lift and/ or move up to 50lbs of force. 

· Light work - Frequently lift and move up to 10lbs.

· Must have open availability.

WORK REQUIREMENTS:

· Must hold or obtain within 30 days of employment a valid California Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) certification.

· Familiarity with California ABC licensing requirements for on-premises alcohol service.

· Knowledge of California Food Handler Card requirements for all food service staff.

· Must hold or obtain within 30 days of employment Manager Food Safety License, within two years of date obtained.

· Ensure compliance with Cal/OSHA workplace safety standards.

· Minimum 3–5 years of experience managing upscale bar and restaurant operations, preferably in a luxury hotel setting.

· Proven leadership and team-building skills.

· Strong understanding of wine, spirits, mixology, and fine dining service.

· Excellent communication, organizational, and conflict-resolution abilities.

· Flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays.

· Must have a valid State of California driver’s license.
